Questions were raised on Fernandinho's future when Pep Guardiola took charge at Manchester City in 2016, with many predicting him to leave the club during his first transfer window under the former Barcelona manager. However, he proved his doubters wrong with his performances and went on to establish himself as an integral part of the Spaniard's system at the Etihad.
The 34-year-old played 29 games in the recently concluded season, scoring one and assisting three goals in the process. Defensively, he averaged two tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 2.4 clearances per game in the league.
#7 Bernardo Silva
After struggling for game time during the 2017-18 season, Bernardo Silva finally established himself as an important part of the Citizens' first-team in the absence of Kevin de Bruyne this season and performed a tremendous role in the club's second successive title win.
The 24-year-old played 36 games for the Manchester-based club during the 2018-19 season, contributing seven goals and seven assists. His defensive contribution also received a lot of applauds as he averaged 1.4 tackles and 0.7 interceptions per game.
