Slovakian Vladimir Weiss has been named head coach of Georgia, Roman Pipia, a member of the executive committee at the Georgian Football Federation (GFF) announced on Monday.

Weiss, 51, replaced Georgian coach Kaja Tsjadadze, who was sacked after financial disagreements with GFF, reports Efe.

Weiss signed a two-year contract, according to Pipia, who did not disclose details of the deal. Pipia said the minimum target of Weiss is to put Georgia in third place in the qualifying group D of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.

Georgia's rivals in Group D are Wales, Austria, Serbia, Ireland and Moldova. Weiss previously led Slovakia, as a group leader, to qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.
