New recruit Roberto Soldado came to the party as Tottenham Hotspur secured a draw against Spanish outfit Espanyol in the recent pre-season friendly.
Soldado gave Spurs the lead after a well taken penalty on 29 minutes courtesy of David Lopez, who had brought down left-back Danny Rose. But Lopez made amends just before the break as he scored with a header putting the Spaniards back on level terms.
Andros Townsend nearly won the match for Spurs 11 minutes from time, when a well taken shot just flew wide of the mark.
Despite Bale not playing the match owing to a foot injury, the packed crowd had plenty to cheer about as summer signings Soldado, Nacer Chadli and Paulinho all played key parts in this even-steven affair.
