There is some good news for Indian football fans. Sony Six will be telecasting all the World Cup qualifying matches of the national team which will be played in India. Talks between All-India Football Federation (AIFF) and the channel have ended and the sports channel of the Sony Network will be showing the home matches live.
India have reached the second round of the Asian World Cup qualifier along with 39 other teams. India have been grouped in Group D alongside heavyweights Iran, Oman, and lowly Turkmenistan and Guam.
India, ranked 147 in the official FIFA rankings, face a tough road ahead as they need to either top the group or finish among the 4 best second-placed teams out of the 8 groups in order to qualify for the next round. Iran are ranked 40 in the world while Oman are 97th in the official rankings. India are the third highest ranked team in the group with Turkmenistan and Guam at 159 and 175 respectively.
India will play its matches between June 2015 and March 2016 with the first match against Oman on 11th June.
