Madrid, Nov 10 – Spain’s national soccer team revealed Friday a new jersey inspired by one first worn in 1924, featuring a golden V-shaped stripe below the collar.
The uniform “reflects the personality of all the generations of players who have worn The Red in the last 100 years”, the national soccer federation said.
The Spanish squad will be sporting the new jerseys when they take the field next Wednesday in Panama for a friendly with the team representing the Central American nation.
Spain will also use the retro uniform for the 2013 Confederations Cup.
After winning the 2008 and 2012 European Championships and the 2010 World Cup, the Spanish national side is now focused on the Confederations tourney.
Replicas of the new jersey will go on sale next Tuesday at a price of 80 euros ($101).
