Sporting CP 'B' go down in season opener

Sunil Chhetri at Sporting Clube de Portugal [Special Coverage]

Sporting Clube de Portugal ‘B’ started off their 2012/13 Liga Orangina (Liga de Honra) campaign with a 0-1 defeat to União Desportiva Oliveirense on Saturday. India star Sunil Chhetri didn’t play in the match held at the Estádio Carlos Osório.

Sporting dominated the match, but failed to convert their chances and they had to pay for the poor finishing. Oliveirense scored the lone goal of the match when Luís Barry headed home against the run of play in the 38th minute.

Sunil Chhetri was not fielded by Sporting coach Oceano and the India skipper is expected to join the Indian national team for the 2012 Nehru Cup shortly.
