Game Week #23
Here are our predictions, what are yours? (all timings in IST )
Swansea | v | Chelsea |
Prediction: 1 – 1 (01 Feb, 0115 hrs)
We all know by now how good Swansea are at the Liberty Stadium, United is the only away team to get all three points at the bridge this season. Chelsea may not be playing the best of football, but are managing to get the results, and this is an important match for them to consolidate their hold on the precious 4th spot. With Terry injured, Cahill may make his Chelsea debut tonight. Chelsea may be the stronger team, but I don’t see them picking all three points at Wales.
Tottenham | v | Wigan |
Prediction: 3 – 1 (01 Feb, 0115 hrs)
Tottenham were unlucky against City, but then got lucky against Watford. They are challenging for the title, and relegation threatened Wigan should be a routine win for them at home.
Wolves | v | Liverpool |
Prediction: 1 – 2 (01 Feb, 0115 hrs)
Liverpool have had an impressive week, knocking City and United out of the Carling and the FA Cups, respectively. However their problem this season has been performing very well against big teams, but failing against mid table teams. Winning this match should help put those doubts to rest. This is also their last match without Suarez, and the Kop faithful will be eagerly awaiting his return.
Everton | v | Man City |
Prediction: 1 – 2 (01 Feb, 0130 hrs)
I find it tough to believe Everton have spent more money than City this transfer window, but then City’s squad seems pretty well balanced, and Everton desperately need a striker. Nevertheless, this should be a very tough match for the Toffee’s, and despite City’s recent slump in form, I don’t see Moyes’s boys getting anything out of this one.
Man Utd | v | Stoke City |
Prediction: 2 – 1 (01 Feb, 0130 hrs)
United lost to Liverpool, despite being the better team, not very often do you see that happening, probably it just underlined their dependence on Rooney up front. Valencia is doing pretty well and is United’s most in form player at present, as seen in their victory over Arsenal. Stoke aren’t the best travelers, and getting anything at Old Trafford for them seems beyond me.
Aston Villa | v | QPR |
Prediction: 2 – 1 (02 Feb, 0115 hrs)
Villa suffered a dramatic collapse against Arsenal in the FA Cup, being 2 – 0 up at half time, and conceding three early second half goals. However, the attacking trio of Keane, Bent and Gabby seems pretty decent, something you would not expect by a team managed by McLeish. Hughes is still new at the Loftus road, but he hasn’t managed to pull them out of their slump yet. This will be a very interesting match for a neutral, and a tough one to predict, so safely going for a narrow home win.
Blackburn | v | Newcastle |
Prediction: 2 – 1(02 Feb, 0130 hrs)
The pick of the matches this game week for me, Blackburn are finally picking themselves up, and Newcastle are slightly wobbling. Senegal is out of the ACN, but as of now there is no news about the availability of Ba for tomorrow’s match. Most people would go for a draw or a Magpies win, I predict a Rovers win, again for the sake of Steve Kean.
Bolton | v | Arsenal |
Prediction: 1 – 2 (02 Feb, 0130 hrs)
Arsenal have lost their last three matches in the EPL, and have 0 points in 2012, they almost crumbled against Villa, but a spectacular second half revival saved them. Bolton aren’t playing very well, and Arsenal really should win this one, or maybe forget finishing in the top four. Again the spotlight will be on Chamberlain, after a string of impressive displays.
Fulham | v | West Brom |
Prediction: 2 – 1 (02 Feb, 0130 hrs)
The Baggies have had a better record away from home this season, but Fulham are very strong at the Cottage, as I write, news is pouring in that WBA have confirmed the signing of Ridgewell from Birmingham, though of course he won’t be featuring tomorrow. I see a hard fought victory for Fulham against their previous manager who left them for Liverpool.
Sunderland | v | Norwich |
Prediction: 2 – 1 (02 Feb, 0130 hrs)
I read an amazing statistic, if the season started when Martin o’ Neil took over at Sunderland, they would be at the top of the table. That’s how he has revived them, and if Sunderland win, they may just make it to 8th spot, a big leap from 16th when they sacked Bruce. Lambert is doing a fantastic job with the Canaries, but this will be a tough match.
