It’s that time of the week again when you can pitch your predictions for the upcoming game week, calculate your score and compare yours against ours. The rules, as always, remain the same, +3 for a correct score, + 1 for a correct result, 0 for a wrong result.
Last week we managed 5 correct results, with 2 perfect score, a total of an impressive 9 points.
Game Week #24
Here are our predictions, what are yours? (all timings in IST )
Arsenal | v | Blackburn |
Prediction: 3 – 1 (04 Feb, 1830 hrs)
To say that Arsenal are going through a bad run would be an understatement, they have 1 point in the past 4 games, and are yet to win a PL game in 2012. Some fans are planning a bin bag protest at the Emirates today, but it is safe to say, if the Gunners don’t win today, many more fans may be disgruntled.
Norwich | v | Bolton |
Prediction: 2 – 1 (04 Feb, 2030 hrs)
Interesting match up, Bolton are picking up some semblance of form, with a thumping win over Liverpool and a battling draw against Arsenal in the last two gameweeks. The Canaries were slightly disappointing against Sunderland last week, but Norwich remain a good team, and Lambert has given them the feel of a solid mid-table team, hence going for a home win.
QPR | v | Wolves |
Prediction: 2 – 1 (04 Feb, 2030 hrs)
I can see a relegation 6 pointer written all over this match, but with the R’s strengthening in the Transfer window, and under a new manager, they seem to be favorites to win this one, though Mick McGarthy could do well with a point here. Zamora and Cisse will be the players to watch.
Stoke City | v | Sunderland |
Prediction: 2 – 2 (04 Feb, 2030 hrs)
The match to watch on Saturday, Stoke have been woefully out of form since Christmas, and Sunderland have picked up beautifully since then. The Britannia is a very tough ground to get all three points for any team in the league, how Martin O ‘Neil continues his side’s ever improving form will be very interesting. I would really want to predict an away win here, but going safe with a draw.
West Brom | v | Swansea |
Prediction: 2 – 1 (04 Feb, 2030 hrs)
Swansea were very unlucky against Chelsea conceding an equalizer with virtually the last kick of the ball. WBA are not doing very well, but seems like Swansea may just have tired a bit, and may not be able to get any thing from the visit to The Hawthorns.
Wigan | v | Everton |
Prediction: 1 – 1 (04 Feb, 2030 hrs)
Everton put up an impressive display in their largely unexpected win against City, and were also the winners on the deadline day transfers, along with QPR. Wigan are pretty much staring at relegation, and Martinez’s men really need to pick themselves up. If both managers were offered a point each before the match, I think they would happily take it, and hence a draw seems likely.
Man City | v | Fulham |
Prediction: 3 – 1 (04 Feb, 2300 hrs)
How City have let United come back on equal points just shows their dependence on Yaya Toure. Their defeat to the Toffees has really worried the fans, and with United playing at the Bridge this week, this is a match they just cannot afford to drop points. Jol’s men aren’t the best of travelers, hence this should be a comfortable win for the Blue half of Manchester.
Newcastle | v | Aston Villa |
Prediction: 2 – 1 (05 Feb, 1900 hrs)
Both Demba Ba and Demba Cisse are expected to feature in this match, and though Cabaye is suspended, this should be a victory for The Magpies. The attacking three of Bent, Keane and Agbonlahor will not make it easy for Coloccini and company though.
Chelsea | v | Man Utd |
Prediction: 1 – 2 (05 Feb, 2130 hrs)
The big match of the weekend, and a very difficult one to predict. This fixture has been a title decider very often in the past, though it is very early this season, and Chelsea aren’t exactly title contenders this season. Both teams are plagued by injuries, Chelsea slightly more. the suspension of Ashley Cole is big dilemma for AVB, as he will have to decide who will be given the responsibility to counter the threat of the in-form Valencia. United have to decide who they will put in goal. A very interesting tactical battle, to be refereed by Howard Webb, I am predicting a narrow win for the Champions.
Liverpool | v | Tottenham |
Prediction: 2- 1 (07 Feb, 0130 hrs)
Tottenham’s signings in the transfer window gave the impression that they aren’t really keen for the title, and would happily like to maintain and secure the 3rd spot. Liverpool will welcome Suarez in this match, giving Dalglish the same problem, on whether to start both Carroll and Suarez up front, or stick to just one, with Bellamy the other. An important match, especially for determining the fourth spot. Tottenham mare hit by injuries to VDV, Walker and Lennon, amongst others, while Liverpool are almost fully fit, barring Lucas, hence a win for the Scousers at Anfield seems likely.
