It’s that time of the week again when you can pitch your predictions for the upcoming game week, calculate your score and compare yours against ours. The rules, as always, remain the same, +3 for a correct score, + 1 for a correct result, 0 for a wrong result
Last week we managed 4 correct results, including 1 perfect score, a total of 6 points.

Here are our predictions, what are yours? (all timings in IST )
Blackburn | v | West Brom |
Prediction: 2 – 1 (17 Dec, 2030 hrs)
Blackburn were on the verge of a win till the 82nd minute last week, and still managed to lose. That’s the problem with them – not defending and a lack of willpower. The Baggies also lost last week – this is a typical relegation 6 pointer, and a very important match for both teams. I think this might be the match where Kean manages a win finally.
Everton | v | Norwich |
Prediction: 1 – 1 (17 Dec, 2030 hrs)
Everton fought bravely last week, till van Persie hit that scrumptious volley. The problem with Everton is the lack of a goal scorer, and Moyes continues to play in his striker less formation. Norwich have been excellent so far this season, and their away form is also good. Hence I am looking forward to an exciting draw.
Fulham | v | Bolton |
Prediction: 2 – 1 (17 Dec, 2030 hrs)
Bolton remain firmly rooted at the bottom of the table, with their defense in shatters. They have conceded 2.4 goals per game this season, obviously the worst defensive record in the league. Fulham were 30 seconds away from qualification for the Europa knock out stages, but somehow managed to be ousted in the mid week. Bad times for both teams, and I can safely predict a home win.
Newcastle | v | Swansea |
Prediction; 3 – 2(17 Dec, 2030 hrs)
Has the Newcastle bubble finally burst? I admit they had a lot of injuries, but conceding 4 goals against Norwich is just not acceptable. Swansea may be steady at home but they are not the best travelers. The Magpies definitely have to win this one.
Wolves | v | Stoke City |
Prediction: 2 – 2(17 Dec, 2030 hrs)
Stoke have been drawn Valencia in the Europa league knock out, and full credit to them, they have utilized the sources available to them to the full potential. They may have gotten extremely lucky last week thanks to Chris Foy, and we can expect a high scoring draw against the Baggies.
Wigan | v | Chelsea |
Prediction: 1 – 3 (17Dec, 2300 hrs)
The confidence will be very high at the Bridge after inflicting City’s first defeat in the EPL this season last week. Chelsea should dispense of Wigan with relative ease. With full respect to Martinez’s boys, I don’t see them managing anything against an in form Chelsea team.
QPR | v | Man Utd |
Prediction: 1 – 3 (18 Dec, 1730 hrs)
With an absolute thrashing of Wolves last week, United are in the process of putting a bad phase behind them. The Europa draw yesterday just reminded United that they are not in the Champions League, and the best way to put that thought out of your mind? A thumping victory at Loftus Road of course!
Aston Villa | v | Liverpool |
Prediction: 1 – 1 (18 Dec, 1935 hrs)
Suarez finally scored for the first time since October last week. That said, Liverpool have only scored 18 goals in 15 matches this season, safe to say they haven’t yet gotten their scoring boots on yet, though they have been thwarted by some wonderful goalkeeping (and the cross bars). Villa are being set up as a defensive team by McLeish, and I think Liverpool may find it difficult to get all three points.
Tottenham | v | Sunderland |
Prediction: 3 – 1 (18 Dec, 2030 hrs)
Denied by the referee last week, and then ousted from the Europa despite winning 4 – 0 against Shamrock Rovers, safe to say this hasn’t been the best week for Redknapp (who may also be investigated for a fisting probe). Martin O’Neil had a tremendous victory in his first match as the Sunderland manager, but his team might be brought back to reality here.
Man City | v | Arsenal |
Prediction: 3 – 1 (18 Dec, 2140 hrs)
How City respond after their first defeat of the season last week, will be the true test of their title credentials. Arsenal are in a stunning form, having amassed 22 of the last 24 points available to them, mainly due to the form of their Dutch captain. This match has a potential for being a very high intensity game of free flowing attacking football. If Arsenal manage a point here, they will be serious contenders for a Champions League spot. Sadly I don’t see that happening. This will be a game where Arsenal will be hoping to use the wings effectively, and City will be trying to attack through the center of the park. Kompany vs RvP will be the key battle!
