Sportskeeda Weekly Predictor: We got it all wrong!

Ad

Here’s a quick round up of GW 13 of the EPL, along with an assessment of our predictions, which can be read here. The rules as always were, +3 for a correct score, + 1 for a correct result, 0 for a wrong result.

We managed to get only 3 results correct this week, with one perfect score, a total of 5 points. It is safe to say we got it all wrong, and this is our lowest score ever.

As it turns out, this was a very tough week to predict the scores, no one from the audience got a good score either, and hence our 5 points remain unbeaten.

Here’s a quick round up.

Stoke CityStoke City3 – 1BlackburnBlackburn

What was I thinking when I predicted a draw in this one? Stoke at home against a team placed 19th, of course they would win! And they did, pretty comfortably. Stoke especially played very well in the middle of the park, sending Blackburn to the bottom of the table, and making Venky’s Indian owners look more and more foolish.

BoltonBolton0 – 2EvertonEverton

I might have gotten my prediction of a draw correct, hadn’t it been for a red card in the first half to Wheater, reducing Bolton’s numbers. After that, the match was all Everton, and had they been more clinical, could have scored many more. David Moyes’s team, have put their bad start to the season right behind them.

ChelseaChelsea3 – 0WolvesWolves

A very important win for AVB’s boys. They were having a terrible run, and have Liverpool, Newcastle, Valencia, and City in their next four matches, starting today. Mata and Sturridge were especially very impressive. Wolves stood absolutely no chance of scoring points.

Man UtdMan Utd1 – 1NewcastleNewcastle

First things first, as everyone knows that it was not a penalty, and Newcastle got lucky. But apart from that a point was the least they deserved. Simply put, United were not clinical in front of the goal, and squandered many chances, apart from that Newcastle put up a splendid defensive performance, and Tim Krul was truly sensational. Coloccini, Taylor( both Ryan and Steven), and especially Simpson(with that save off the line) preserved a point for the Magpies.

NorwichNorwich2 – 1QPRQPR

What an exciting match this was, with end-to-end football, and both teams going for the victory, with Holt just nicking it for the Canaries. I am convinced both these newly promoted sides should be able to stay up in May.

SunderlandSunderland1 – 2WiganWigan

Bet 365 predicts Steve Bruce will be the first EPL manger to be fired this season, and at the moment it’s tough to disagree with them. Nothing seems to be going right for them, and they were beaten by a bottom side Wigan. I do have some sympathy for Wigan, and especially I am a fan of Martinez. I just hope he doesn’t have to regret his decision to refuse yo manage Villa.

West BromWest Brom1 – 3TottenhamTottenham

Tottenham’s strength in depth became very obvious in this match. With Modric and VdV both injured, Tottenham still managed a late victory. WBA might have gotten unlucky with 3 to 4 refereeing decisions, but Spurs are two points behind United with a match in hand, and United are definitely title contenders, does that automatically not make the Spurs challengers as well? A very scary thought indeed.

ArsenalArsenal1 – 1FulhamFulham

Arsenal were performing too well in the recent past for their own liking! Finally we had the Arsenal of same old, same old! when they screwed up a match, what should have been a routine win. They barely managed to hold onto the point with Arsene blaming it on the fatigue. While his reasons are acceptable, December is fast approaching and Arsenal have too many matches to play, they better prepare themselves.

SwanseaSwansea0 – 0Aston VillaAston Villa

A match subdued by the shocking news of the death of Gary Speed, especially as it was in Wales! Nothing much to say about the match, and a draw was a fair result, full respect for Shay Given, though.

LiverpoolLiverpool1 – 1Man CityMan City

The most exciting match of the week, and it was the one probably, the Scousers should have won, had it not been for the heroics of Hart in the fag end of the game(the save of Carroll’s header was truly sensational, the save of the year in my opinion). Lucas has proven once again that DM is becoming a more and more important position in modern day football, and players like Song, Parker and Lucas deserve much more credit. People interpreted this match saying that it proves that City are not Invincible. Despite not being at their best, a man down, and their opposition playing their best football, and away from home, they still managed to remain unbeaten, isn’t that the mark of a true champion team?
