Cesc Fabregas was issued a yellow card for simulation during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against the Saints at the St Mary's Stadium after he was brought down inside the penalty area by Matt Targett. A penalty was straight-away denied and the booking only worsened the situation.
"I think it is clearly the result of something that looks like a campaign," boss Mourinho insisted after the match. "In the first match, Diego got a yellow card when it should have been a penalty and a red card [for an opponent] at Burnley.”
“A few months later, we lose two points in a match where the penalty is there and Fabregas gets a yellow card," he added.
His booking was the fourth one this season for a Chelsea player, twice more than any other side in the Premier League. This is a worrying factor for the club since referees will now be more skeptical to believe if a player has actually taken a fall all by himself or not if he is in the Blue shirt.
