For long have the English Football Association members and the England national team managers complained about the lack of good homegrown English talent in the domestic league. There has been a large influx of players from different countries around the globe in the Premier League.
Of the 1,106 goals that were scored in the league last season, only 298 were scored by English players, that is just above 29 percent. The rest were scored by players from foreign countries with Spain, Belgium and France following one another on the list after England. Spanish players scored 78 goals with the likes of Fernando Tores, Michu, Juan Mata and Santi Cazorla on target for their respective clubs. Marouane Fellaini,Eden Hazard and Christian Benteke among many others represent Belgium in the league.
Other less known players like Gael Bigirimana, the Newcastle United midfielder, is from Burundi and he was also on the score sheet.
