NOT SCARED: Steve Clarke has no fears about facing Manchester United

West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke has stated that he is not afraid of facing fellow Scot David Moyes’s Manchester United on Saturday. West Brom have not bested the Red Devils in 35 years. The Express reports.

“I have never been afraid to go to their ground,” said the Baggies’ boss. “It’s something you should relish. It’s fantastic to play at these stadiums.

“It makes you feel good and ready to play the best you can. I don’t believe it has a fear factor. I don’t believe you should go to these places and be intimidated. Players have to relish such a challenge.”

West Brom have lost all of their fixtures except for the 3-0 victory over Sunderland last Saturday and lost out on penalties to Arsenal on Wednesday in the Capital One Cup.

The Baggies face United and then head to Arsenal in fixtures that will push Clarke’s managerial skills to the limit.

Meanwhile David Moyes has had a tough opening season with United, and his fellow countryman stated: “I never understand why people would ask a professional whether they think they will win or not.

“I think as a professional that I will win every single game I go into. And if I don’t think that how can I convince the players? I want them to have the same feeling as me – that we can always win the game.

“Any negative mind-set is something I have simply never understood. It’s a game where you know the pressure is not on us because everyone expects them to beat us. So 99 per cent of the country don’t expect us to get the result.”

West Brom are pinning their hopes on Saido Berahino who has scored four Capital One goals this term including one against Arsenal.

Steven Reid, The Baggies skipper against Arsenal, said: “Berahino has that knack of getting goals and is going to be pushing to get into the team.

“He has come back from a serious knee injury last season and got himself fit and trim. I can’t give Berahino enough credit. He has been superb. He has to be really knocking on the door. He is not scared to have a go. He is in great shape now and having an impact in each game.

“There is a turning point in every career when you have to decide what path you are going to go down and, thankfully for us, Berahino has his head right.

“It was probably his injury when he realised now is the time to knuckle down. Players only get one chance, and he has taken his”

Meanwhile David Moyes holds the best record for any new manager since the legendary United boss Matt Busby.

Moyes has won five games, lost two and drawn one.
