In case you didn't know...
Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes were all absolutely exemplary for their respective sides, but they somehow failed to fire together for the national team. While Scholes was arguably the best passer among the 3, Gerrard was the most complete and Lampard contributed most in terms of goals and assists.
Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea fans have all argued for more than a decade now and Toni Kroos' comments will certainly please United and Scholes' fans.
The heart of the matter
The trio of Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes were so good that they were all even nominated for the Ballon d'Or award, however, none of them actually managed to claim the top prize. Their midfield battles defined the Premier League in the 2000s and it is a huge reason as to why the Premier League is so popular in the world today.
All 3 of them are now working as pundits, with Gerrard and Lampard working together on BT Sport, although Gerrard is now the manager of Liverpool's under-18 squad.

Author's take
There is very little to pick between the midfield trio of Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes with players, fans and pundits usually just going with their own personal preference. However, Toni Kroos being a top central midfielder himself is better qualified than most to answer this question and his opinion certainly carries a lot of weight.
