Steven Gerrard to leave Liverpool: Twitter reactions

Steven Gerrard has scored 180 goals in 695 matches

As known to most of us by now, Steven Gerrard has confirmed that he is to leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the season. Apparently this decision was long made and Gerrard had been waiting on it for the past two or three months despite manager Brendan Rodgers’ best efforts to make him stay.

Gerrard will end his 26-year run with Liverpool. Reports say that the player will move to the United States where he will play in MLS, following the footsteps of Thierry Henry, David Beckham and many others.

The football fraternity is shocked in its entirety at this news. Some of Gerrard’s former teammates and a few of Liverpool’s most ardent fans have sent out some tweets, some of which we have compiled here.
