Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones may have sent one of the most expensive text messages ever after he texted manager Mark Hughes the night before to inform him that he would not be available for the match against Liverpool last Sunday.
Liverpool won the game 3-5 at the Britannia. Jones was fined a total of two weeks’ wages for not turning up.
Although Hughes did not expect Jones to not turn up despite the text message, Jones did keep his word and did not come in for the pre-match meal at the club’s training ground.
It is understood that Jones is looking to move away from Stoke City in the transfer window and that Everton might be a possible target. The striker has only six months left on his contract and could leave for free this summer.
