Mark Hughes has made his first signing of the summer as Erik Pieters has been signed from PSV Eindhoven for a reported fee of around £3m.
The 24-year-old defender, who plays for the Dutch national team, has penned down a four-year deal with the potters.
Erik has won 17 caps for Netherlands till now and primarily plays as a left-back but he can also play in the central defence.
Mark Hughes said: “While Erik is predominantly a left-back, he has also played for his country as a central defender, so he gives us other options.”
Stoke City finished the previous season in the 13th place and Mark Hughes wants to build a balanced squad in the quest to finish the next season in a better position.
