Stoke City have confirmed the signing of Under-21 Barcelona defender Marc Muniesa on a free transfer.
Muniesa, 21, primarily plays in the central defence, but he can also play as a left back and he joins the Potters on a four-year-deal.
Muniesa said: “I’m very excited about moving to England and will do everything I can to help the club.”
“It wasn’t a big decision for me to make. I came to England yesterday to meet the people at the club and look around the training ground, which is very impressive.
“My season only finished a fortnight ago when the European Championship ended, but I can’t wait to get started for Stoke. I would start tomorrow if the club asked me to,” added the defender.
Muniesa made his La Liga debut with Barca as a 17-year-old but however, he didn’t get many chances in the first team and he was an unused substitute in the 2009 Champions League final.
