Kevin Strootman joined the Giallorossi from PSV in July 2013 and quickly became an integral part of the first team under Rudi Garcia before soon being linked with a move to Manchester United. The Dutchman has been repeatedly linked with a move to Manchester United but the midfielder claims that he is happy to stay at the Stadio Olimpico.
It was said that he was eager to reunite with his ex-national coach at Manchester United. There were reports regarding a summer move for Strootman to United, but now it has been made clear that he want to stay at his club and is happy there.
Strootman who is a key player at his current club wants to achieve more at Roma than moving to a new team. He was quoted by voetbalzone saying, "Of course, everyone wants to go to Barcelona or Real Madrid, but they don't come quickly to the Eredivisie.”
"Sometimes there is the odd exception, but mostly the rule is that those sort of clubs scout at a higher level. I don't see Roma as totally an intermediate step, but I think a player who performs well here will earn a reputation at the top level quicker,” he added.
"In these types of competitions [Serie A and the Champions League] you just learn a lot."
Roma are second in the Serie A league table, and this decision will definitely boost both the manager and his teammates in their title chase.
