Otman Bakkal, the player who Luis Suarez bit three years ago while playing for Ajax, claims that the striker is out of control. The attacking midfielder, who moved to Dynamo Moscow earlier this summer from PSV, added that he is not surprised by all the controversies surrounding the Uruguayan international.
Bakkal was bitten on the shoulder by Suarez during a game between PSV and Ajax in the Eredivisie in November 2010. Suarez, then 24, was subsequently banned for 7 games. However, he was transferred to Liverpool in January and thus the match against PSV proved to be his last for Ajax. Speaking to The Sun, Bakkal said:
“I saw it and it was unbelievable. It’s something you can never imagine happening on a pitch. It happened once already. At first I thought maybe it was an accident but, apparently, he loses it sometimes. I don’t know what to say.
“I thought he meant it when he said sorry. I never provoked him (during the incident in Holland). He uses everything to try to distract defenders. I think he wants to win so badly that he loses his mind sometimes but afterwards he comes to his senses.
“It doesn’t belong on the pitch. It was the end of him in Holland. Now we just have to wait and see what the FA does – and then what his future will be in England.”
Suarez publicly apologized to Ivanovic after the match and has already been fined by Liverpool Football Club.`Further, he has been charged by the FA for violent conduct on the pitch and faces a lengthy suspension after the FA deemed his three-match ban ‘insufficient’.
