I-League club Gokulam Kerala FC are on the lookout for signing English striker Antonio German as a replacement for Henry Kisseka, who is set to sign for Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan.
Antonio German is a 26-year old English striker who progressed through the youth setup at London club Queen's Park Rangers before making his senior debut in 2009 in the Football League Championship. For the next six years, he played for a large number of English clubs such as Aldershot Town, Southend United and Yeovil Town on loan and moved to Stockport County. German played for Brentford and Gillingham before being picked up by Kerala Blasters FC in 2015.
German played two seasons with Indian Super League franchise Kerala Blasters FC scoring six goals in his first season in 2015. He returned to the Kerala side for the 2016 season again, playing 14 games during the season but could not score a single goal that season.
The Englishman last played for Hemel Hempstead Town FC in the National League South, the sixth tier of English football. He had shown a keen interest in the Kozhikode-based club Gokulam Kerala FC after their impressive giant-killing spree in the I-League when they defeated Mohun Bagan, Minerva Punjab FC and East Bengal in succession. He had tweeted this about the club earlier in March.
Gokulam Kerala FC have not made any official announcements about the signing but one is expected soon, it has been learnt. German will be a welcome addition to the Gokulam Kerala FC side who impressed one and all with their debut season performance.
The club has continued their good run in the Super Cup as well when they defeated ISL franchise NorthEast United FC to make the main draw and will take on Bengaluru FC in April.
