Szczesny: Arsenal will finally get their hands on a trophy in 2014

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny says he will be targeting continual development and improvement throughout 2014.

The Polish goalkeeper has had an excellent season so far after suffering from some poor performances last season, even forcing Arsene Wenger to drop him at one point.

He turned his form around, though, and earned himself a new contract at the Emirates earlier this season.

Arsenal sit top of the Premier League and have done for the most part of the season but Szczesny wants more.

“I believe last year was by far the best of my career, on and off the pitch,” said the Polish international.

“What I am trying to do now is make sure that 2014 will be even better and that I can finally get my hands on a trophy.

“That’s something that has been missing, not just for me but for nearly all the players at Arsenal.

“When you play for such a big club, personal ambitions don’t really matter because you want to deliver for the fans and for the club.

“And that is definitely the aim for all of us this season.”

Arsenal face Aston Villa this weekend and are preparing for an important few weeks in February and March where their fixture list is as hard as anyone’s in Europe.

From February 8th to April 5th, they face Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Bayern Munich. They also have to squeeze in FA Cup fixtures if they progress to the next rounds, too.
