With some teams playing back–to-back games this weekend, we have 8 games remaining and a lot could change in the standings after the weekend. Dwarka regained the lead at the top after Sen Q stunned Q Squad last week. With Phoenix and Storm also dropping points, Wishwakings made their way into the top three for the first time this season.
May 6th
7:30 AM – FC Kickers v Storm FC
We start things off with the headliner of the day when Kickers clash with Storm. Kickers have played the least games in the league till date and if they win this game they could well be within touching distance of a top-three finish.
Their complete performance against Phoenix last week showed the potential this team possesses. Storm have an outside shot at the title but finishing in the top two will be their immediate aim. They came in as favourites after winning the inaugural edition of the TAL Cup but have underperformed for the most part. This game could be decisive for both teams as to how their seasons turn out.
Crystal Ball: FC Kickers (2) – (3) Storm FC
8:45 AM – Panthers FC v Phoenix FC
This will be the second time these teams go up against each other having played in Season 1 but both their rosters are unrecognisable from what they played with back then. Phoenix have had a complete change in fortunes since then and are in contention for a top three finish.
Panthers have had a rollercoaster season so far but have recently come into some good form and will be hoping to carry on in a similar fashion. Phoenix have the powerhouse that is Fulgence Kouame and if Panthers can’t find a way to stop him, they will likely lose the game.
Crystal Ball: Panthers FC (3) – (4) Phoenix FC
10:00 AM – Q Squad v Storm Youth
The youngest teams in the league go up against each other when Q Squad and storm Youth go head-to-head. Q Squad took the lead at the top of the table two weeks ago only to follow that up by losing to Sen Q and in the process, the lead too.
Storm Youth put in the performance of their season so far holding their seniors to a draw in an entertaining game. Both teams are brimming with young talent but Q Squad might be favourites purely based on current form.
Crystal Ball: Q Squad (3) – (2) Storm Youth
11:15 AM – Highflyers FC v Ultimate FC
The final game of the day has two struggling teams taking on each other. Highflyers have only won once so far and a win here could really set them on course to finishing the season on a high note.
Ultimate FC have improved game on game but are yet to pick up points. Both teams will be aching for the win and we expect the game to be one of high intensity. Ultimate need to be cautious of giving away an early goal to Highflyers who are masters of turning slender leads into points.
Crystal Ball: Highflyers FC (1) – (0) Ultimate FC
May 7th
7:30 AM – Sen Q v Storm FC
The opening game of Sunday has Sen Q taking on Storm FC, who also will be playing on Saturday. Sen Q caused the upset of the season last week by defeating Q Squad and will want to carry on that form but they come up against a team on the rise in Storm FC.
Although Storm drew last week against Storm Youth, they will be looking to come out all guns blazing knowing that any more mistakes will affect their challenge for a top three spot. Both teams are extremely tactical and we expect a close game with not too many goals being scored.
Crystal Ball: Sen Q (0) – (1) Storm FC
8:45 AM – Wishwakings v Delhi Student FC
The second game of the day sees Wishwakings clashing with Delhi Student FC. Wishwakings’ recent turn in fortune has seen them move into the top three in the standings. Delhi Student FC have not been able to pick up any steam this season and lie a lowly ninth in the standings.
Wishwakings have an outside shot at the title but for that to happen they need to win every game from here on out. DSFC have shown glimpses of their individual talent throughout the season but have failed to click on the pitch to a large extent.
Crystal Ball: Wishwakings (3) – (2) Delhi Student FC
10:00 AM – FC Kickers v FC Dwarka
The headliner of the day has Kickers taking on league leaders Dwarka, Kickers are playing Storm the previous day and their morale will be affected by the outcome of that game, but keeping their heads down and gunning for the win should be their motto for every game.
Dwarka regained the top spot in the standings last week and know that their destiny lies in their own hands – win all their games and the title is theirs! Both teams are attacking minded so expect one of the games of the season.
Crystal Ball: FC Kickers (2) – (2) Dwarka FC
11:15 AM – Panthers FC v Storm Youth
The final game of the day has Panthers FC taking on Storm Youth. Panthers are coning off big back-to-back wins and are high on confidence. Storm Youth are also an improving squad as reflected by their draw against Storm FC last week.
An interesting clash of tactics awaits us with Panthers preferring a free flowing open game while Storm tend to play a compact passing game. A win here could be a big boost for both these teams as they look to reach the upper echelons of the table but from the looks of it, a draw is most likely.
Crystal Ball: Panthers FC (2) – (2) Storm FC
