Manchester City
Pep Guardiola has great experience in this competition, both as a player and a manager. City does not have the history and tradition overall, compared to other clubs. But they certainly possess the riches and will be looking to win the CL for the first time this season.
City won the Premier League by a canter in 17/18 and surpassed the other great PL-era sides – such as United’s Treble, Arsenal’s Invincibles, and Chelsea’s 2005 winners – by winning the league with 100-plus points. So winning the CL is the next step up. They only attained Mahrez in the transfer window, but he is a quality player and will add to their attacking options.
Pep also hasn’t won the CL since 2011, and this will be something he is keen to rectify. Can he do it? He has the chance. And City’s owners will back him, for sure. City will possibly be England’s optimally primed candidate to succeed this season.
