Top ten transfer bargains available across Europe

A bargain is a successful transfer with a very low transfer fee. Javier Hernandez (for Manchester United), Shinji Kagawa (for Borussia Dortmund) and Papiss Demba Cisse (Newcastle United) are noteworthy bargains in the recent past who have made a huge impact for a very mediocre fee.We list ten players who could prove the cheapest and the most efficient for the “not so fortunate” teams.

1. Giovani Dos Santos :

The Barcelona product is quick and a highly talented player. Tottenham Hotspur have not made optimum use of his talent. He has no future in Tottenham as they continue to send him on loan to mediocre teams. The Mexican international has been scintillating in the national colours, notching up 13 goals and 22 assists in 57 appearances. Since he is not a regular squad player for Tottenham, smaller teams in the Premier League who lack attacking prowess like Everton and Swansea can notch him for a fee of less than 10 million Euros.

2. Alessandro Del Piero:

The Juventus legend is going to be released by the Italian giants in the summer. Del Piero might be old, but he certainly is a goal scorer and a creator of immense quality. We need no reminder of his relishment of big games. Teams can easily sign him as a free agent and his experience will help add to the growth of any club around the world. Del Piero is also a global brand and can sell shirts too!

3. Dimitar Berbatov:

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson officially announced that Dimitar Berbatov would leave the club in the summer. Berbatov has supreme goal scoring talent and has one of the best ball control attributes in the world. Age may not be on his side, but he has still got a couple of years in him. Manchester United will reportedly hear offers as low as 6 million Euros for the Bulgarian striker. This transfer could be one of the best bargains for any club.

4. Fernando Gago:

The Argentina international had a moderately successful time in a loan spell at A.S. Roma. Real Madrid’s squad is saturated and Jose Mourinho would surely accept any offers for Gago. Gago is a proven performer and was one of the silver linings in two disappointing seasons for Real Madrid in 2008 and 2009. His passing and tackling are good for any league’s standards. 7-10 Million should clinch the deal.

5. John Guidetti :

A year ago, John Guidetti was an unknown youth player for Manchester City with good talent, but not enough to raise eyebrows. Manchester City loaned him to Feyenoord and his impact was imminent. His first season in Dutch football has been compared to the likes of Luis Suarez, Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Robin Van Persie. At just 20 years old, he would not demand a transfer price of more than 8 million according to sources within Manchester City. 20 goals in 23 appearances in his first season have earnt him interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and AC Milan.

6. Mateo Musacchio:

Musacchio was one of the silver linings in a disastrous campaign for Villareal CF. He, along with Alberto Botia, are being scouted by teams across Europe due to their hidden potential. Musacchio has already been capped for Argentina and is known to be a technically sound defender in an otherwise ordinary league in terms of defensive quality. Musacchio is just 21 years old and has a wealth of experience in the Europa League and the Champions League. As a result of Villareal’s relegation, Musacchio’s transfer market price is close to 10 million euros.

7. Andriy Yarmolenko :

Yarmolenko is regarded as the “next Shevchenko” by many in Ukraine, but he has slowly made his own individual place in Dynamo Kyiv’s and Ukraine’s history. Ukraine’s most talented youngster since Shevchenko, Yarmolenko is more of a creative midfielder with a natural eye for goal. He is considered to be one of the youngsters to watch out for in Euro 2012. In a time where exorbitant transfer market values rule, Yarmolenko comes at just under 10 million Euros.

8. Didier Drogba :

Drogba has been the most consistent Premier League striker in the past five years. Released by Chelsea FC, Drogba should be on the top of everyone’s transfer list as he is a world class player with talent. He is a consistent goal scorer and can add different dimensions to any attack.

9. Jack Butland :

Many of us might have been shocked to read this youngster’s name in England’s Euro 2012 squad but there was nothing shocking in his inclusion. Butland has high levels of concentration levels and is the prodigal son of English football. There must be something extra-ordinary in Jack as he is just 19 years old and has flourished in the lower leagues. He would be ideal for teams like Tottenham Hotspur, who are struggling to find a long term goalkeeper. His transfer fee is just 3.5 Million Euros.

10. Giuseppe Rossi :

Rossi has been linked to top teams like Barcelona for some time now, but Villareal’s relegation and his long term injuries have added a new twist to his career. Rossi is a proven performer for Italy and Villareal and has learnt from his disastrous episode with Manchester United. He is expected to cost just 10 million euros. Many of us might argue that his current injury could be a major obstacle to his transfer but the risk is certainly worth taking.
