#6: Anatoliy Tymoshchuk
Changing positions of a player can hamper his abilities. But it can prove equally dangerous for other players already playing in the position in question. And, fate had something similar for Ukraine midfielder Anatoliy Tymoshchuk in store.
Tymoshchuk was brought to replace the ageing Ze Roberto in the central midfield in June 2009. Although Van Gaal's decision to play Schweinsteiger as a central midfielder was right on the mark, it proved to be poisonous for Tymoshchuk.
With Schweini putting up impressive displays in the centre of the park, the Ukrainian midfielder found himself pushed to the fringes at Bayern.
In the fewer chances he got, Tymoschuk had to fill in at defence for the injured players. After failing to cement his spot in the starting line-up, the Ukraninan left for Zenit St. Petersburg in 2013.
Tymoschuk managed only 86 appearances and 4 goals in his 4-year-stint with Bavaria.
