Midfield - Steven Nzonzi (Roma), Ivan Rakitic (Barcelona) and Luis Alberto (Lazio)
Steven Nzonzi rose to fame in the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City before making a switch to Sevilla in 2015.
The Frenchman’s qualities came to the fore with Sevilla and he won the Europa League in his debut season with the club.
In three seasons he played for the club in 136 games before making the switch to Roma in the summer. In fact, Nzonzi was signed at Sevilla and at Roma by the same Director of Football, Monchi.
Ivan Rakitic joined Sevilla in January 2011 from Schalke and he went on to play 149 games scoring 34 goals. The Croat won the Europa League in his last season as captain of the club before joining Barcelona the following summer.
Rakitic has been an important member of the Barcelona midfield since his move and has played 214 games scoring 30 goals in his four seasons at the club. In addition, he has won 12 trophies in those four seasons.
Luis Alberto also came through the Sevilla academy but he only played nine games for the first team across two seasons before moving to Liverpool on a permanent transfer in 2013.
Alberto’s career didn’t take off at Liverpool and he was eventually sold to Lazio in 2016 for just €4 million. The Spaniard struggled in his first season in the Italian capital but he thrived in the 2017/18 season
The 25-year-old ended the last season with 12 goals and 19 assists in all competitions and his tally of 14 assists in the league was bettered only by Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane in Europe’s Top 5 leagues.
