SD Eibar v FC Barcelona - La Liga
May was a month of a disappointment for Lionel Messi. Barcelona crashed out of the Champions League semi-finals under unbelievable circumstances and then also lost the Copa del Rey final to Valencia. Lionel Messi's first season as a Barcelona captain could be written off as a disappointment, as the Catalans finished only with the La Liga title. However, when it comes to the Best FIFA Men's Player award, the Barcelona Skipper is still firmly the favourite right now.

The Argentinean scored 5 goals from 5 games in the month and ended the season with 51 goals and 16 assists from 50 games in all competitions. Unbelievable once again! He won his 6th La Liga Golden Boot and also finished as the top assist provider in the league. Despite the fact that he bowed out of the Champions League in the semi-finals, Messi still ended up as the top scorer of the tournament, scoring 12 goals from 10 appearances. He also won a record 6th European Golden Boot this season, the first time that a player had won the award three times in a row!

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.
Deepungsu has been a Manchester United supporter since the year 2000. Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Like the fiery Scot, Deepungsu also leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accuracy in articles and only relies on credible sources.
Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
