It is a big sigh of relief. Apparently, relief for millions of die-hard fans of one of the most talked about football clubs, gradually becoming a phenomenon in the most thrilling sport today – Football. Not going by the endless debate of who’s fan following is more dedicated, or who draws more coverage or who’s got a strong (balanced) team or the overall performance in English football. Every fan’s eyes are glued to the sport season by season match by match, minute by minute, point by point. The performance of Chelsea is eagerly monitored by millions, not necessarily supporters or fans of Chelsea but also supporters of rival teams, to ensure that their own club is not affected with the play of Chelsea. But we are not here today to discuss the “GAME” clubs play.
The point at issue is different. Its a welcoming, soothing, exciting news, though not officially confirmed as yet, but we have gladly heard and we hope that Mourinho will be shortly leading Chelsea again. Lovely isn’t it. For last 5 years we have seen the quick ouster of many coaches for one simple reason – not living up to the expectations of:
1. Owners
2. Supporters
3. Players
4. People crazy for betting
A friend of mine has correctly pointed out that one basic but the most important role of a coach (in this most competitive event of the world) is to “Unite the whole team” which is rather a religious, prime, and noble duty of a good coach. Nationality, religion, faith, loyalty, and even the experience, I believe, really do not matter much (and we have felt this during the last decade). But the earnest desire will always be that the new coach SHOULD INVARIABLY BE ABLE TO DELIVER but then the advantage with him is that, it is like a home coming for him as he knows the scent of the team, flavour of togetherness, the everlasting taste of team spirit and hopefully “Qualifies” with distinction, on the expectations of major chunk – THE FANS.
His record speaks of itself – 2 titles in 2 years. The most encouraging factor in his favour is the elevation Chelsea got under his guidance. Also, he is known for maintaining a good rapport with each player, developing the particular skills required, and most importantly he knows the strength and weakness of most of them as an individual. Fair enough? Oh yes!
And now as most of us believe we have got an “IDEAL SQUAD” as of today. The only need of the hour is to sharpen the edge and polish ”the killer instinct”
Many might not agree, but honestly, if it works out and he improves them on just one basic issue he will (with my fingers crossed) succeed. Remarkably, he just needs to train the boys how to sustain the early lead they had obtained in the league this season.
The story ends here, or does it begin?
