#6 Fernando Torres (2014-15)
Despite winning the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea, Fernando Torres' stint at Stamford Bridge did not live up to the hype and he was shipped off to AC Milan on a two-year loan deal at the start of the 2014-15 season. Upon joining, the Spaniard claimed that he wants to be remembered like some of the greats to have graced the club, naming Marco van Basten and Pippo Inzhagi amongst others.
However, his spell in Italy was lacklustre to say the least, as he scored just once in 10 appearances for the club, before being flogged off to Atletico Madrid 6 months later despite the fact that the club purchased him permanently.
#5 Luiz Adriano (2015-16)
Luiz Adriano was a goalscoring sensation for Shakhtar Donetsk and was believed to be the man who was could finally break the curse of the #9 shirt, as the Brazilian striker scored goals consistently in his time in Ukraine. It wasn't to be the case, as Adriano failed to adapt to Italian football and fizzled out, after showing signs of promise.
While he registered 4 goals and 3 assists in his first season, he failed to score a single goal in 7 appearances in the 2016-17 season, as he was subsequently shipped off to Spartak Moscow.
