The Footy Mumble: England players drugged, Arsenal top table!

England players drugged!

After Tuesday night’s washout in Warsaw, one hardly expected a scintillating game of football between Poland and England. But England crushed out any last hopes of a decent game with an insipid game that fans will be quick to forget.

The usual excuses like poor pitch and conditions came out as expected, but didn’t quite explain why the English played like zombies on drugs.

The British media as usual, has scooped up the actual truth about how several English players were drugged by their own F.A – no, not in an attempt to fix the match but to put them to sleep (no, we are not referring to the medical term either).

The 20 hour postponement meant all the pre-match adrenaline created havoc for the players and did not let them sleep.

Which meant the F.A had to step in and provide sleeping pills for the players who slept through not only the night, but also the match.

Liverpool want Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal want Lopez, and Neymar wants England!

In our daily transfer roundup, Liverpool to the headlines, with London following close behind.

The lack of strikers in the Liverpool squad has prompted newspapers to link them with every other forward in the past few days, and finally, they have reached unprecedented heights.

Because today it is the turn of Alexis Sanchez, Barcelona‘s marquee signing last year, to be linked with an Anfield switch. All because the winger has failed to start 3 of his side’s 7 games this season, conveniently forgetting the 4 he has started in.

Arsenal have still not overcome the loss of van Persie it seems, as they too get linked with forwards. After Llorente and Isco, its the turn of Adrian Lopez to be linked with the Gunners.

Neymar continues to be linked with a move to Europe and now the press claims he prefers the Premier League over La Liga. All because he tweeted his preference to study English on a particular day when he also had to learn Spanish. I mean, seriously ?

Singapore S-League to fine bottom placed clubs !

As though relegation was not hard enough for clubs to handle when they end up at the bottom of the table after a long season, it seems the Singaporean F.A wants to add to their misery by fining them for poor performance!

Teams that finish last in the 13-team league next season will be fined S$50,000, while the 12th placed team will be fined S$30,000.

Still wondering the logic behind it? So are we!

Referee takes pics with Messi during match!

If seeing referees blunder their way through matches isn’t terrible enough to watch, a referee has tried to test fan’s patience by clicking a picture with Messi.

We at the Mumble wouldn’t give the slight bit of attention to it, knowing well the Argentinian’s popularity the world over.

The Paraguayan ref however was so eager for the pic that he decided not to wait till the match between Argentina and Chile was over and instead, got one taken at half-time itself, with fans watching the world over. Who gives a damn about neutrality anyways?

Well done, ref!

Arsenal top the table – for ticket prices

Arsenal fans will be delighted to know their club has finally topped the table! And not so delighted when they learn its for having the highest match day and season tickets for PL matches.

Yes its Arsenal who top the list and not even the Manchester clubs or Chelsea who come close.

A survey by BBC reveals Arsenal’s most expensive season tickets cost a whopping £1955 while their cheapest is just under £1000. Chelsea offer the second most expensive ones at a distant £1250 but at least we know where the money goes. Straight into buying the likes of Oscar, Hazard, etc.

But Arsenal neither buy nor spend! Add to that the money made from selling RvP, Fabregas, Nasri (to mention a few). They refuse to pay high wages too (Walcott situation).

So where does the money go???
