48 points from 31 games… I think we all Liverpool fans expected better at the start of the season.
Let’s face the reality, we are 7 points behind Chelsea(4th position) and 3 points behind Everton(6th position) who have still got a game in hand and yet we think we think we have a chance of occupying the champions league spot.Even if Liverpool manage to win the last 7 games we’ll have a total of 69 points we’ll certainly surpass last season’s total of 52 points but looking at Everton’s recent performances, even qualifying for the Europa league seems unlikely.
Our recent performances have been good. Suarez is on fire (recently as well as throughout the whole season), Downing and Henderson have massively improved and Sturridge has performed quite well after joining from Chelsea. The manager Brendan Rogers, should be given the credit for every small thing we have achieved this season. For example our draw with Manchester City was due to Suarez – Sturridge combination and quick passing which was a rarity during last season. Coutinho has a lot of talent and has the potential of becoming the next ‘Xabi Alonso’ but he needs some amount of time.
There is a big chance that Ashley Williams might join Liverpool after the season has finished. People say that we need to bring in strikers, but according to me, strikers don’t perform until the midfielders don’t pass the ball in good areas.
We are Liverpool fans we like to see our team in Champions League and not just play in FA Cup, Carling Cup etc. If I was Brendan Rogers I would sell Joe Allen, I mean he just takes the ball from the defnders and then it passes it back and gets 98% passing accuracy, such players belong to Stoke City. We need players who always go forward and we know we are not going to win until we score goals. Players like Suarez always want to compete in big competitions like Champions League and our inability to qualify for it may force him to leave Liverpool. Bring in players like Cabaye(Newcastle United) and Sebastian Larsson(Sunderland) who are capabale of doing wonderful things despite playing for below average clubs(no offence).
Liverpool has lot of good players, no doubt, we need to wait atleast until next season for getting a place in the champions league. God bless LFC and let’s hope for the best.
