What's the story?
Cristiano Ronaldo was forced off the pitch as he pulled up his hamstring against Serbia. The forward came off with a hamstring problem during Portugal's Euro 2020 qualification game with Serbia on Monday after 30 minutes of play.
With the season entering its most important and ultimate phase, the injury to Ronaldo comes as a setback to Juventus as they go head to head against Ajax in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League on April 10.
In case you did not know..
Juventus signed the 5 time Ballon D'or winner to end their Champions League drought. Although it seemed like the Old Lady had their heads out of the UCL as Atletico Madrid beat them 2-0 in the first leg of their Round of 16 encounters but Ronaldo had different plans. The Portuguese ace scored an ecstatic hat-trick against his former city rivals to knock them out and secure a quarterfinals berth for his side.
The heart of the matter
Ronaldo after the game against Serbia downplayed the injury concerns as he stated:
"I'm not worried, because I know perfectly my body. It happens, it's football. Who's out there risks it. I'm calm, because I know I'm going to be back well in one or two weeks with no problem."
According to reports from Italy, Ronaldo will likely miss the next three Serie A games, against Empoli on Saturday, Cagliari on April 2, and AC Milan on April 6 but will be fit in time to face Ajax.
The Juventus forward has already started his physiotherapy and working indoors as he intends to return to the pitch as soon as possible.
The Portuguese international seems confident that he would be fit in time to face the Dutch side. A lot lies on former Real Madrid ace's shoulders as he will be instrumental if Juventus are to succeed in the UEFA Champions League this year.
What's next?
The Turin based club would not mind Ronaldo missing the three Serie A games as they hold a comfortable 15-point lead over Napoli but would be desperately hoping that the Portuguese recovers well in time to avenge his former club's loss against Ajax.
