In a proposal that is certain to raise eyebrows, the Brazilian League Champion Santos wants their legendary player Pele to take the ground for them in the club World Cup due in December in Japan.
Pele himself is excited about the prospect and the legend is reported to have started training so that he can be fit to play in December.
Santos’ marketing executive Armeio Neto is also upbeat about the prospect as he refused to rule out the intriguing scenario saying that he has no doubt over Pele’s return.
“I don’t doubt anything; however it also depends on the coach. If Pele is a boost to the team then why not?” said Neto.
According to a Sao Paulo based newspaper, Santos would like to see their former striker taking the field in a potential final against Barcelona. Imagine Messi and Pele in the same pitch playing against each other.
The believe that Messi and Pele playing against each other could be off great financial interest, is keeping the Santos officials hook to the idea of making Pele play at 70.
