A moment to remember, such a thing is hardly imaginable!
It’s an acknowledgement of one of the most remarkable feats that can be ever achieved. As we near this weekend, we could see Paul Scholes entering the elite club of 700 appearances for United. It’s not a easy feat or achievement to play for so long at Manchester United and then establishing oneself as a peripheral figure at the Theater of the Dreams. Let’s throw some light on his illustrious career as the great man marks this journey into yet another admirable feat.
The Ginger Prince as he is affectionately called, his return to the Red Devils was a marvellous addition to the already dicey midfield. His presence, involvement, vision, incisive passing, memorable goals are a huge asset that still cannot be filled by anyone in the current lineup. Despite being older, he is still can dictate games and can still pass the ball better than anyone in the league. A real model to look up to and indubitably has a plethora of quotes on the great midfielder by other footballers. One of the most talented footballers to grace the Premier League and possesses the best attitude in the game.
‘Let the ball do the work’
A legend, amazingly gifted and intelligent, all-round midfielder, tenacious tackler, killer long-range shooter, consistent, respected individual, fantastic ambassador for club and country on and off the pitch, classy, dedicated and loyal are the few qualities that are noteworthy that define the class of this footballer.
Aforementioned are the several long-range efforts he was reputed, acknowledged and for which he established himself as a pivotal cogwheel with the demonstration of pulling of strings acting from the midfield define a true reflection of the midfield maestro’s capabilities and abilities. Personally in my opinion I think Scholes has been better than Xavi, not only has he played the deep lying role to perfection, he also played the more attacking role to perfection too and his overall presence on the team has been constructive for the team’s success.
Following are my choices for his seven best goals:
- Liverpool at home 98-99
- Bradford away 99-00
- Middlesbrough away 99-00
- Panathinaikos at home 00-01
- Aston Villa away 06-07 (best of the lot)
- Blackburn at home 06-07
- Barcelona at home 07-08
Scholes is a better long passer, gives the ball away less, has better off the ball movement in a playmaking sense and is superior in nearly every goal scoring attribute (long shots, goal scoring runs, heading, finishing etc). Paul Scholes was hugely and fantastically better in his prime and the likes of Zidane, Lippi, Figo, Blanc, Henry, Alonso, Pep Guardiola, Iniesta, Xavi, Viera, Neville among others truly respected him and this endowment keeps the orchestrator in good stead to prove that why he is one of the best footballers.
An extraordinary man, he never went seeking for the spotlight like so many modern footballers.
According to me, Scholesy has been the key to much of United’s success in the Ferguson era and it’s difficult to imagine if United would have quite the same force without him
Paul Scholes gave his soul to United and none of us could ask for more than that.
