What's the story?

Real Madrid defender, Nacho, hinted that things are not going well at Real Madrid, stating that the relationship between the players and the coach is difficult at the moment.

In case you didn't know...

Real Madrid are enduring an abysmal season considering their standards. Los Blancos were knocked out from the Copa Del Rey by Barcelona and from the Champions League by Ajax in the span of a week.

Their Champions League elimination after more than three seasons came as a shock. After securing a 2-1 win against Ajax in the first leg, Madrid succumbed to a humiliating 4-1 defeat in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Last night's 4-1 win against Real Valladolid was Madrid's first win in their last five games. Los Blancos lost four home games consecutively, depicting their terrible fate this season.

Barcelona are top of the La Liga with 63 points - seven ahead of 2nd placed Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid sits third in the La Liga table, 12 points behind the leaders.

As a result of the poor performances, current boss Santiago Solari is under heavy criticism and there are multiple reports linking coaches like Jose Mourinho and Zinedine Zidane with a return to the Spanish capital.

The heart of the matter

It is crystal clear that things are not going according to the plan for Santiago Solari and his players, and center-back Nacho was the one to admit that the relationship between the coach and the players is not comfortable.

Speaking after the Real Valladolid match, the Spanish defender said to reporters as quoted by Marca,

"The relationship with the boss [Solari] is difficult as things are not going well. But we are with him to the death."

When asked about the importance of the win, Nacho answered,

"I don't think this win mitigates the week we've been through,"
"This club forces you to win and we want to fight for this badge every day. It is difficult day-to-day."
"We wanted to go on our holidays with a trophy." added Nacho.

What's next?

Real Madrid will host Celta Vigo next in the La Liga.
