Manchester City have been one of the most prolific sides over the last few seasons across Europe. They hold the record for most goals scored in a single Premier League campaign, having found the back of the net 106 times in the 2016-17 season.

They have lived up to their reputation since and were the top-scoring side in the division last season too with 102 goals. Pep Guardiola's tactics have helped them become one of the most feared sides in Europe but success in the Champions League continues to evade them.

They racked up 112 goals across all competitions in 2020, to end up with the most goals for an English club in the calendar year.

#2 Paris Saint-Germain - 122 goals in 2020

When talking about clubs that are too good for their leagues, Paris Saint-Germain is probably the first name that comes to mind. The Ligue 1 giants have been a force of nature in the French top-flight and also staked their claim to be counted amongst the elite clubs in Europe, after making it to the final of UEFA Champions League last season.

With the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Angel Di Maria, and Mauro Icardi, the club has incredible depth in the attacking department. Given the quality gap between Les Parisiens and their competitors in Ligue 1, they can and do score a lot of goals.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic forcing Ligue 1 to be terminated in April after 28 games, PSG ended up scoring 75 goals. Thanks to their rich form this season they have taken their tally of goals to 122 for the 2020 calendar year.

Currently, they are second only to Bayern Munich in terms of goals scored so far this term.

#1 Bayern Munich - 149 goals in 2020

2020 had been Bayern Munich's year. The German giants won it all last year and by August had won five trophies before the 2020-21 campaign even began. The reason behind their success? As you would've guessed it, goals galore. Their defense deserves the credit to have complemented their attack well to make the work in front of the goal easy.

While Bayern are not a one-man club, the current form of striker Robert Lewandowski would have us believe otherwise. The player has already scored 24 goals in 18 games.

He contributed directly with 45 goals in the calendar year, in which the Bavarians notched 149 goals. They have continued their fine goalscoring form this year as well and will be hoping to reach the landmark 150 figure.
