After topping the record of goals in UEFA competitions last week, the striker Filippo Inzaghi is experiencing a tragedy in his career. The veteran of 37 years tore a ligament in his right knee last Wednesday in Milan’s victory over Palermo by 3-1 in the Italian League and is out of this season 2010/11.The Italian player will be operated on the next few days and the sports press is asking if this is the end of the brilliant career of Pippo, a footballer from many goals of effort and instinct.“Life and football are like that. One minute you run and fight and the next you fall. Everybody is on my side and I will do everything to get back on the field. I won’t give up” said Inzaghi.It will be very difficult to return to the fields for the 38 year old and play the 2011/12 season in top level. But his legacy is priceless. Like his goals record in European competitions.Despite his age, Inzaghi has keept intact his passion for the profession. He celebrates his goals with great enthusiasm and is one of the hardest workers in practice. His career was marked by a spirit of sacrifice that helped him to overcome his technical limitations.
1994/95With his 15 goals, Inzaghi helps the Piacenza in Serie B to move back to the top division of Italian football. In this season the big clubs started to notice him.
1995/96He signs with emerging Parma, which was sponsored by Parmalat company and had significant players like Zola, Asprilla and Stoichkov. Inzaghi scored 2 goals in the season and didn’t get space to play in the midst of so many big names.
1996/97He is on loan to Atalanta FC where he shines. Served by the midfielders Sgró and Domenico Morfeo, Pippo Inzaghi scored 24 goals and became top scorer of the Italian championship. At 24 years old, the big clubs are noticing.
Went to Juventus where he formed a spectacular offensive trio with Zidane and Del Piero. The team wins the Italian league with Inzaghi scoring 18 goals. He also scores six goals in the Champions League, where Juve’s were the runner-up.
1998/99With Del Piero injured for almost the entire season, it’s up to him to carry Juventus. Keeps his goal average of the previous year, but the titles were not reached.
1999/2000Without the coach Marcello Lippi, Juventus lost the Italian league to Lazio in the last round. Inzaghi scored 10 goals in eight games in the Champions League!
2000/01He played his last season with Juventus. Played fewer games and scored fewer goals than his average. At the end of the season, went to Milan accompanied by coach Carlo Ancelotti.
2001/02Debut for Milan. Despite the injuries being obtrusive, scored 16 goals.
2002/03

The triumphant return. Inzaghi scores 17 goals, some decisive ones in Champions League and helps Italy to win the World Cup in Germany.
2009/10He feels the absence of Kaka – sold to Real Madrid – and performs one of his worst seasons with a measly five goals in 33 games.
2010/11Breaking the record of goals in the UEFA competitions scoring his 70th goal in the tie at 2-2 with Real Madrid. He also scores his 125th goal for AC Milan, beating the ex-striker Marco Van Basten. One week after, he’s injured seriously in a game against Palermo and being that old, it will be difficult for him to play again at high level.
