The North East team is desperate for three points. Can they get it against the Kolkata boys? A win against Lajong will take the Chirag Boys to third place as the I- league season comes to an end with three rounds remaining.
Chirag United is at 31 points and Shillong Lajong FC at 25 points. “It’s a do or die match “ , says Stanley Rosario of Lajong. In the last meeting they lost to Chirag 2-0 in away game. Can the crowd support help the home team win against Chirag this time? In last five matches Chirag haven’t won a single game while on other hand Lajong FC have lost just one game in the last five encounters. Well we are all waiting for the results.
This year there are seven teams fighting to stay out of the relegation spot, and a win from Lajong will see them in the middle of the table safe from the relegation zone, where as for Chirag whose form lately has not been as expected, a win will take them to third place.
There are some concerns in the Lajong squad with defender Rojit Singh and midfielder Rohming Thanga and Marlangki Suiting who are in doubt but with the likes of Daniel Bedemi, Anil Gurung and Seikhohoa Tuboi all making it to the first eleven there is a sigh of relief for the fans. But we must not forget the two Brazilian spear heads of the Chirag attack Josimar da Silva Martins who has scored 15 goals and Edmilson Marques with 10 goals this season, “we will be marking them very closely”, says Stanley Rozario .
It will be a test for the boys from Bengal playing against a team who is very good at home and the weather conditions may not suit them as it has been raining regularly in Shillong If it rains during the match the puddles in the pitch will play a major factor. But I am sure Anjan Nath’s men will not hassle with these conditions.
“We need the three points” says Stanley Rosario, yes the north east club is desperate for the number 3 which will take them fifth of the table and it will be interesting to see Daniel Bedemi playing against his former club and it will a test for him to mark his old mates who are in a good scoring form.
Lajong coach has requested all the fans and even the people from villages to come all out and be that extra man to support the club who really needs everything to secure their place for the next season. It will be a great and a very entertaining match with the Kolkata team who will want to end their point’s drought and as for the home team a win will take them closer to safe pastures.
