Although Halloween originated almost 2000 years ago in the Celtics, many countries all over the world have adopted this popular festival. The ancients Celts believed that on the night of October 31st, the dead returned as ghosts and would leave food and wine on their doorsteps to keep the roaming spirits away and whenever people wanted to step out of their homes they would wear masks so that they would be mistaken for fellow ghosts.

So many people around the world step out of their homes wearing scary costumes to celebrate Halloween. Given that this is such a popular festival many famous footballers around the world used this Halloween weekend to show off their scary side and creepy costumes.
Let’s take a look at some famous footballers donning their favourite Halloween costumes this year.
#1 Philippe Coutinho
Philippe Coutinho has surely had a blistering start to the Premier League this season having already been involved in 8 goals over 10 games so far and has definitely brought smiles upon many Liverpool fans everywhere.
Coutinho and family went all in for the popular Suicide Squad look this Halloween season. Coutinho paid close attention to detail with all the tattoos and bling while his wife pulled off a wacky Harley Quinn outfit and their adorable little baby donned the Enchantress outfit, at least that's what they were going for.
#2 David Ospina
Although Arsenal’s reserve goalkeeper has not been getting the minutes he would have hoped for, that hasn’t stopped David Ospina and family dressing up as the “Super Family.” The Kryptonian family all including Superman, Superwoman, Supergirl and Superboy looked cheerful in their holiday costumes.
#3 Patrice Evra
The French international and former Manchester United defender is known to be quite a funny man and his Chucky costume for this season’s Halloween definitely stood out displaying both his funny and spooky side.
Evra put up a video of him dancing and dabbing in the Chucky costume on social media. The defender had also previously posted a video of him dancing to music dressed up as a Panda.
#4 Yannick Carrasco
Yannick Carrasco has been in great form for Atletico Madrid for the past few weeks as his double against Malaga helped the Madrid club collect all three points last week.
Apart from scaring defenders on the field Carrasco had taken it a step further after dressing up for Halloween this season in what looks like another Suicide Squad look as Carrasco and his partner painted their faces to look like the Joker and Harley Quinn but without the regular costumes, instead wearing identical green shirts.
#5 Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo might be one of the best footballers in the world but not quite when it comes to pulling off a scary Halloween costume.
Ronaldo posted a picture of him and his friend on social media all dressed up for Halloween in what looks like a cross between Dracula and “V” from V for Vendetta. But we are not quite sure what Ronaldo was trying to pull off as it’s not quite scary nor funny.

He might not be scary enough for us this Halloween but he sure is one great footballer.
#6 Marcelo
#7 Roberto Firmino
Liverpool’s Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino has been lighting up the Premier League after the arrival of Jurgen Klopp at the club last year. Firmino did not take too long to replace Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge as the first choice striker and ever since has become a crucial part of Klopp’s team.
Firmino also decided to get into the holiday mood as he and his wife dressed up as a scary looking Batman and Batgirl. Although we are not quite sure if that qualifies as Batgirl or Catwoman?
#8 Lucas Leiva
The Liverpool squad seem to have a great attachment with Halloween as even Lucas Leiva and family stepped up to don really cool looking costumes for this season.
Lucas dressed up as the Grim reaper with his face zipped open. His wife donned a skeleton costume with her face painted like a skull and of course, the kids went for a much more approachable Joker and the Witch costume. The Leiva family certainly fit the bill for Halloween this season.
#9 Luis Garcia
Ex Liverpool footballer Luis Garcia definitely wins the best costume for Halloween this season as he draped himself in a white cloth enacting the famous “Ghost goal” against Chelsea from the 2004/05 season.
Till today, nobody actually knows if the ball had crossed the line or not but this will surely bring back painful memories for many Chelsea FC fans as the Blues got knocked out and the Reds progressed further. The 38-year-old Spaniard posted this picture on social media with a special message “Happy Halloween!! Some will find it funny..others Scary!”
