Arsenal forward Theo Walcott avoided a controversy akin to that of Andre Santos with a wise decision to swap shirts with former teammate Robin van Persie in private after the Manchester United-Arsenal match on Sunday.
Earlier this season, Andre Santos had made a similar move, but in full view of TV cameras and Arsenal supporters, and that too at half-time itself.
The Brazilian left back was heavily criticized for this by Wenger and fans alike. Manager Arsene Wenger had come down on him harshly for approaching Robin van Persie.
Walcott, however, steered clear of the storm by making the swap in private, inside the stadium tunnel. He appeared with Robin van Persie’s shirt in the post match interview.
