Chelsea’s loaned-out goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has stated that he will sign for either Atletico Madrid or stay at Chelsea rather than sign for Real Madrid.
The young Belgian, who is set to start for his country in this summer’s World Cup, has been on-loan with Atletico for three seasons and could be heading back to Chelsea in the summer.
It is thought that Jose Mourinho would like Courtois to return to battle with Petr Cech for the number one spot at Chelsea next season and beyond.
Courtois was linked with Real Madrid recently but he has dispelled any rumors surrounding his future.
“If the rumours [about Real] are not true, then they are not true. The one thing I have always said is this: it’s Atletico or Chelsea,” he told Castilla La Mancha TV.
“I’m very happy to be with Atleti, my desire is to play and if I can’t do that at Chelsea and I can continue here, I’ll be very happy.
“I’ve never spoken with Mourinho. At the moment Chelsea cannot guarantee me a place in goal, because [Petr] Cech is there, he is playing well and is one of the best keepers in the world.”
Courtois has 16 clean sheets in 29 La Liga games this season.
