Premier League leaders Chelsea have got plans to replace phenomenal goalkeeper Petr Cech, it seems. Cech, who played a great role in their Champions League victory against Bayern Munich last season, could replaced by promising young goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois - some say as early as next season.
According to Spanish sources, the club is going to make the final decision in March and it seems that he is certainly going to be called back to Stamford Bridge after his two year-long loan spell at Atletico Madrid. The source also claims that Chelsea Manager, Robert Di Matteo, approached the 20-year-old earlier but Courtois desired to continue with Atletico for another season.
However, it now appears that Chelsea are keen to bring him back to London. But this time, they are planning to loan him to a Premier League side so that he may be available at any time to replace Chelsea’s current number one, Petr Cech, who is approaching his 30′s. Chelsea’s goalkeeping coaches believe that it is time for the the Belgium international to feel a new experience.
Chelsea signed Courtois from Belgian Pro League side Racing Genk in a £7.9million deal in the summer of 2011.
The 20 year old is in scintillating form this season. He played 8 games and has made 14 saves – with 3 clean sheets. He also played a key role in Belgium’s WCQ matches. Playing only four matches, he saved 14 goals and has helped his team win three.
