Bayern Munich and Germany international star has been heavily linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena. Will he join former teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger in leaving the German champions for newer pastures?
It has been the top transfer news in recent weeks, Manchester United have launched an enormous €100m to lure Thomas Müller away from the Allianz Arena. The 25-year old who is an integral part of Pep Guardiola’s side is reportedly a main target of his former manager, Louis van Gaal.
Having already acquired Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich, the Dutch manager is also eyeing Müller to solve his team’s problems upfront.
Bayern Munich’s chief executive, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has ruled out any possibility of the striker leaving in a statement this week. Losing a long serving and fan favorite in Schweinsteiger wasn’t easy and it seems unlikely that Müller will be allowed to leave as well.
Thomas Müller has a good relationship with Van Gaal and the hefty fee the English club is reportedly offering might lure him away from his hometown club.
Is he an ideal target for Manchester United to pursue?
Müller will be a key player at Manchester United if the deal goes through and can form a deadly partnership with the likes of Rooney, Mata and new signing Memphis Depay.
Müller has already won everything there is to win with Bayern Munich with the Bundesliga, DFB POKAL and the Champions League in his large collection of trophies along with the World Cup. The prospect of moving to United presents him with a new set of challenges and opportunities.
He consistently has been at his best for club and country, but still remains one of the underrated players in world football. However, Van Gaal rates him highly and the amount of money he is reportedly willing to offer Bayern asserts that. But at the moment, this transfer looks nothing more than just a rumour.
