Thomas Muller exudes confidence ahead of Champions League quarterfinal against Porto

Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller

The Bavarian midfielder Thomas Muller asserted on Tuesday that his squad’s sense of unity is stronger, denying the obvious disruptions to team preparation caused by injuries, ahead of the Champions League encounter against Porto.

The 25-year-old doesn’t validate the opinion that the absence of Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Bastian Schweinsteiger and David Alaba would affect his team’s run. He is confident of emulating the outcomes that they have had with the current squad in the recent games against Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

The virtuoso cited the games against their Bundesliga competitors as examples to authenticate his claim.

He was quoted as saying, "In those games we came closer together as a group, as a unit, and that will obviously help us against Porto. Now it is not about the injuries but about building a strong unit on the pitch with the players who are there. We are confident and hopefully we can score a few goals."

The German heavyweight himself needs to fire on all cylinders to end their opponent’s undefeated run in the tournament thus far, and the players will have expand their roles to fill the void created by the absence of the star performers.
