Thomas Muller: Manchester United move not up for discussion

Thomas Muller is one of the most sought after footballers in the world at the moment

Germany and Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has virtually ruled out a move to Premier League giants Manchester United. Contrary to speculations which have intensified over the last few days, the World Cup winner told the Daily Mail that a move to the Red Devils has not been on his mind. This puts a temporary break to persistent rumors about a proposed move to the Premier League which has been one of the most drawn out transfer sagas of last summer.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is a known admirer of the 26-year-old forward and there were media reports suggesting that the Dutch tactician has made Muller his number one priority. It was also reported that the Old Trafford outfit are allegedly ready to break the bank to secure the services of Muller.

But the latest statement by the player himself is bound to quash rumors about any potential move for the time being much to the disappointment of Manchester United fans all over.

Additionally, Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has reasserted that the Bundesliga leaders would never sell Thomas Muller as he was one of their most prized assets and he also took the trouble to go as far as requesting Manchester United CEO Ed Woodward to stop emailing him with offers for the German international.

I am happy at Bayern: Muller

Muller has echoed Rummenigge’s sentiments while talking to the Daily Mail.

“I heard what Rummenigge said and it’s nice for me to hear it,” Muller said. “There are never any guarantees in football but I do have a four-year contract and when I go on the pitch and hear fans shout my name, that’s something special.”

He also saw the funny side of Karl Rummenigge’s rather hilarious request to Ed Woodward regarding frequent inquiries about Muller’s transfer situation.

“That was well said. I had to laugh about that. It was good. The club, as Rummenigge showed, denied it straight away, so it’s not up for discussion.”

Thomas Muller has started the season in great form scoring nine goals in just eight appearances for the Bavarian outfit. Muller is currently considered to be among the top footballers in the world. Incidently, current United manager Loius van Gaal was the one who gave Muller his break in the Bundesliga when he was in charge at Bayern Munich.
