Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller revealed that he rejected Manchester United’s offer to join the Premier League club.
The World Cup winning Germany international was reportedly a target for new boss Louis van Gaal.
Muller discussed his future at Bayern
The Red Devils were ready to bid £25 million for him when his contract situation was still not certain.
The Bavarian forward reportedly had talks over his future and position in the team with manager Pep Guardiola.
Once he was assured that he had an important role in the team, he signed a new five-year contract to stay at the Allianz Arena.
I was offered ‘astronomical’ wages: Muller
The 24-year-old was asked about whether Manchester United almost signed him and he replied: “Of course. I was aware that I could earn more by making that transfer.
“The amount that foreign clubs were offering me was astronomical. But Bayern are my club, a change was not an issue for me.”
Muller is not the first German star to reject a move to the Premier League. Toni Kroos was also a target but he chose to sign with European champions Real Madrid.
