Thomas Muller and Bastian Schweinsteiger were obviously in a joyous mood after their World Cup final triumph over Argentina on Sunday. However, Muller might have just crossed the line when it came to talking about his fellow competitors.
The Bayern Munich forward remained one goal away from claiming a historic second successive Golden Boot award. The German finished second on the Golden Boot list with five goals, while Colombia’s James Rodriguez took home the prestigious trophy bagging six in Brazil.
On being quizzed by an English speaking presenter about coming so close to winning the Golden Boot, Muller replied in Bavarian and took off laughing .
His speech roughly translates to: "I don't care about all of that bull****. We're World Cup winners! We have the trophy!"
He is alleged to have further said, "You can take that golden shoe s*** and stick it."
Was he right in swearing on camera? Was he right in saying something as mean as this to James Rodriguez? Or should all this be taken as just a joke and be forgiven for the joyous moment he was in? You be the judge of that.
