Chelsea's young battalion has robbed the headlines this season for all the right reasons, but one area where Frank Lampard requires reinforcements is at left back.

Marcos Alonso, although deadly down the firing end of the pitch, is far from the player who offers pace on the table without the ball. The fans seem to have lost patience with the Spaniard, and his recent displays make for grim reading.

Emerson has been a revelation down the left-hand side of the Chelsea back line, but he needs serious competition and more importantly, a back up or even a player to mutually develop with.

Chilwell, as published in various dailies and tabloids across the English landscape, seems to be Lampard's realistic target come summer. He'd be a fantastic addition to Chelsea, who seem to be tailoring young talents every now and then.

With either Christian Pulisic or Callum Hudson-Odoi down the same flank, Chilwell would also enjoy playing with a more pacy forward line, a side that probably moves the ball quicker than any other team in the division.
