A midfielder during his playing career, Munoz was first appointed as the coach of Madrid's reserve team and later as the head coach in 1959. He went on to become the club's most successful manager in a spell that lasted for 15 years. He is widely considered by many to be one of the game's most successful and the best manager of all time.
In his charge at Madrid, he went on to win 14 major honours: 2 Champions League titles, 9 La Ligas, 2 Copa Del Reys and 1 Intercontinental Cup. Quite a CV for a manager!
He is also the club's longest serving manager ever. Due to his accomplishments with the club, he is widely respected and loved by the fans.
Munoz has also managed to win it all in his playing career. He made 223 appearances for Real Madrid in total in which he won a total of 9 titles: 3 Champions Leagues, 4 La Ligas and 2 Copa Latinas.
His success at both the playing and managerial career has made him one of the game's all-time greats.
